Today
Today a colleague's father died of cancer.
Today a colleague's wife writes her beloved is emaciated from chemotherapy.
Today a friend is advised to have a breast biopsy.
Today is my birthday.
Today the blossoms still cling to the vine.
"When earth's last picture is painted, and the tubes are twisted and dried, When the oldest colors have faded, and youngest critic has died, We shall rest, and, faith, we shall need it --lie down for an aeon or two. Till the Master of All Good Workmen shall set us to work anew..." ~Rudyard Kipling~

It is good to appreciate our happy moments.
Yes, indeed. In all times and seasons, He is there with us. Because He is, "it is well with my soul."
Carol, thanks for coming by. :)
L'Envoi, Happy Birthday!^^ though it's late..
well, that's life.. there's something good and something bad.. enjoy the happiness you've had. God bless! ^^
Thank you for the birthday wish, Snoopy. A friend indeed. So, my friend:
hmm... are u chinese/abc? i'm just curious to know.. never mind if you don't want to tell..
hahaa... it's a bit tricky here.. :p
*Conceding his inferior learning of the Chinese classics, L'Envoi bows to Snoopy.*
no kidding pls..
my friends said you are knowledgeable about poem, when comparing with mine, already 高低立見~ well, i agreed! ^^
Au contraire! It is you whom I must defer and accord the higher recognition of a scholar of classic Chinese poetry. I grinned with delight when I read your joinig of stanzas by Meng Horang (Tang Dynasty) and Yang-sheng (Ming Dynasty).
Your impeccable selection of Yang's [青山依舊在,幾度夕陽紅] said it all. I will make haste of my [知音世所稀]. :)
L'Envoi, you know French as well? cool~~~~
definitely not, you're just too humble... you're quite knowledgeable indeed! ^^
"青山依舊在,幾度夕陽紅", i'm quite impressed when reading 瓊瑤's novals in my old days, do you know her?
Sorry, Snoopy. I do not know this author to whom you referred in your "old days." If I read your response correctly, this author quoted Yang in her works. Regardless, Yang Seng was the original author of [青山依舊在,幾度夕陽紅]. The complete text of his poem containing these two verses is as follows:
臨江仙
楊慎
滾滾長江東逝水,浪花淘盡英雄.
是非成敗轉頭空.
青山依舊在,幾度夕陽紅.
白發漁樵江渚上,慣看秋月春風.
一壺濁酒喜相逢.
古今多少事,都付笑談中.
yes, i know it's Yang's, and the author just quoted it in her novel..
you like studying chinese poem? coz i rememberred that you've quoted one from Li Bai, it's 春思.. rite? ^^
Now you are pushing me into a corner. *grin*
I am really embrassed. Truly, I have only a peripheral and shallow understanding of classical Chinese poetry.
did I? i'm so sorry!
you're just too humble to admit it. ^^
