Another First For Me
I bought over $40 of groceries this evening. When I got home I found the signed credit card slip for the purchase with the reciept. So back to the I store I went with the signed copy of the slip.
"When earth's last picture is painted, and the tubes are twisted and dried, When the oldest colors have faded, and youngest critic has died, We shall rest, and, faith, we shall need it --lie down for an aeon or two. Till the Master of All Good Workmen shall set us to work anew..." ~Rudyard Kipling~

arhahaha... does it really matter?
I was amused also I got the signed credit card receipt for the groceries.
This signed receipt was similar to a written personal cheque. My signature on the receipt authorized the market to bill my Master Card account. At the next billing cycle, I will pay the MC account for all my purchases noted on the statement. MC, in turn, will pay my neighborhood grocer and other merchants with whom I'd transacted during that billing cycle.
I could have not returned the signed receipt and kept the "free" groceries. It would be dishonest. Moreover, the clerk who processed my purchase could face some unpleasantness with her employer. She might have to make up for the loss.
With this little mix-up settled, I wonder if the recyle people at the dump have chanced upon my two new pairs of shorts. Probably not.
oops.. i thought that you've kept either the merchant's copy or bank's copy but the cashier kept the another two copies... normally, the cashier will return the yellow receipt (cardholder's copy) to us.
of course, you have to return the receipt to the cashier if she got no records.. ah, what's happened to her?
