A Blogger Notice

I had not been paying attention to the number of posts made over the years, until recently. Yesterday when I signed on to the Blogger app, this line in small print caught my eye. It read as follows:

"1,000 Posts, last published on Aug 28, 2012"

The New Blogger Format is Poorly Designed

The new Blogger format is an improvement alright. It is not a better design, however, than the replaced version. Instead of form follows motion, it is the other way around in this iteration. If the user doesn't adapt to the Blogger programmer's whim, too bad.

Google forgets the Blogger app is just the back-office of the user's blog. The old Blogger version got the job done, even if it were out of style with Google. Frankly, I could care less about the new look. It's busy and fragmented. All the essential blogging tools are now scattered or partitioned off from the main app.

Score: 2 (5 is best).

iOS4 Won't Stream MP3 on Apple Mobile Devices

If you have updated your iPhone 3G or the iPod Touch 2G/3G to iOS4, your device would most likely not be able to play the music on this blog. Either device would blame the server for being improperly configured. Notwithstanding the RSS feed is valid per server configuration. So then, to listen to the music link offered on this blog, you need to access it using a pre-iOS4 Apple mobile device, or play from a desktop/laptop browser.

Apple is morphing into Microsoft.

The Caffeinated L'Envoi

My testing of Google's new beta Caffeine search engine on the word "L'Envoi" has percolated this blog to position number 8 out of the top 30 returned citations. Wow! By contrast, the current decaf search algorithm displayed this blog as number 33 on the search list.

I'll have another cup of joe. The new Google blend, please. Thank you.

Labeling Old Posts Affects RSS Feed Dates

I am in the process of labeling new and old posts. With the New Blogger, it updates the date and time stamps on all edits, including labeling posts. Subscribers to my blog RSS could see old posts showing up with new syndicated dates.

These posts, when viewed in full, still shown their original published dates.

From Mr. Hyde to Mr. Hyde

The transformation is complete. The old classic blogger template is now converted to the the New blogger. I preserved almost all of the old blog template format and style. The new blogger widgets afforded me to categorize my posts as intended. Another nice functionaliy in the new look is the archives. There is no longer a static display of a long list of post dates. The blog reader can now expand or collapse the blog archives by year and by month.

Thus far, I am rather pleased with the changes.

Love Labels Lost

It's occurred to me not all of my labeled posts are displayed when searched. The browser displays only one screen-page of posts. Maybe it has to do with my not using the new widgets in my page element layout and other stuffs.

It seems one has to switch to the New Blogger layout to take advantage of the new widgets. I will do so and see what comes of it.

Lost in Cyberspace

I sent two separate observations on the wedding yesterday. Both messages were sent on the iPAQ using a local wireless connection at the golf club house. They have not been posted as of this writing. Today I sent another test post from home. Nada. All three submissions have not been rejected, however. Something is going on with the Blogger server.

If the posts don't get published sometime today, I will do a replacement.
